If you have a blog or website with articles and want to turn your readers into listeners, the Disco Widget can help. This guide will take you through all of the steps needed to create and install your very own disco podcast recommendation widget.
Step 1: Register for a Free Headliner Dashboard Account here
Registration is pretty simple. I'm just writing this text bc otherwise the two heading's look weird next to each other on the page. See you down at step 2 below! Here's the registration link from above, unfurled in all its glory: https://dashboard.headliner.app/register
Step 2: Create Your Widget
Navigate over to the Self Serve Widget area on the left hand nav bar, then simply input your rss feed as well as the url to the website you'd like to place it on, as shown in the image below:
Step 3: Wait For Your Widget To Be Created
It can take a couple hours for your widget code to get produced, so go outside, take a walk, or maybe check out these amazing photographs of snails, your widget will be ready in no time! NOTE: if for any reason there is a problem with your widget creation, you'll get an error message telling you contact email@example.com
Step 4: Review Your Widget
After the widget is created, the widget area will display your widget demo as well as your widget code, as below. Have a look, click around make sure you're happy with it before putting it on your site.
Step 5: Install the Widget Code On Your Site
This is a two parter!
1. Copy the Script Tag and paste it into the Head section of your site's html.
2. Add the placeholder text script anywhere you want the widget to appear on your site. Keep in mind, the widget is responsive and will stretch to fill the container it is placed in, so if it is enormous and taking up the fill width of your site, you probably need to move it's location somewhere else. Many people put the widget directly under the post/article pages.
Step 6: Start Turning Readers Into Listeners
Disco takes your last 5 episodes and puts them into the widget content pool. Every time you publish a new episode, it will be added as well, making sure your freshest podcast content is automatically in front of your site visitors.
