Did you know you can transcribe and edit audio or video in Headliner? Well, you can, and great news! It's super easy. Believe us, if you can edit a word doc, you can edit audio and video with Headliner.
This article will walk you through how to transcribe and edit video and audio with Headliner.
Getting started
First thing first, go ahead and login to your Headliner account. Visit https://make.headliner.app and click on the pink 'Transcribe, edit, and grow' button. This will open our transcript based editor, or Eddy for short!
Once you're in Eddy, you'll need to decided how you want to upload your project. Eddy offers podcasters ample ways to upload audio and video files:
- Google Drive connect
- Zoom cloud imports
- Podcast Search
- Manual uploads
- YouTube Ingestion
For Pro accounts, you will also have the option to set up a Transcription Automation.
Once you've successfully uploaded your audio or video file in Headliner, you next follow the onscreen prompts to help us qualify your project parameters (aka your Podcast Promo Pack).
After your project has finished transcribing, you can start to edit your file. As we mentioned before, Headliner uses a transcript based editor. Transcript based editors enable you to edit your project just like you would a word doc. To edit words or phrases, simply highlight over and click the 'Edit' icon.
From here, you change spellings or correct grammatical errors by typing in the onscreen text box. To delete words, just highlight over them and click the 'Backspace' or 'Delete' button on your keyboard.
Continue editing your transcript until you are ready to export and share your work!
Note: Deleting words or phrases from your transcript will also delete them from the corresponding audio or video file. To strike a word or phase from the transcript but keep it in your audio/video file, press the 'Spacebar.'
More features
Eddy simplifies the editing process. But, it also does so much more. Here are a few of our favorite bonus features in Eddy:
- Caption Full-Length Audiograms - For audio files, you will have the option to create an audiogram from the export pane. Clicking on 'Audiograms' will pass your Eddy project, with transcript, to our Manual Audiogram wizard. It is here that Headliner will use your edited transcript to create accurate captions.
- Add Intro/Outro - Eddy also lets you add custom intro/outro recordings. For video files, we recommend uploading a video file. For audio projects, we recommend uploading audio projects.
- AI Powered Editing - During the upload process, you may have noticed Eddy can automatically edit unwanted filler words. To enable AI editing, toggle 'Remove filler words' ON. You may also edit or remove filler words in bulk using the 'Search your transcript' feature located in the top center bar.
- Speaker Separation and Custom Library - Eddy automatically detects changes in speakers and labels them accordingly. You may edit speaker labels to make them the actual speakers' names. Eddy will even work to remember names and learn to match them with voices over time. The same goes with words too! Eddy learns from your transcript edits to create custom libraries to ensure accuracy.
