If you have a blog or website with articles and want to turn your readers into listeners, then Disco free can help. This guide will take you through all of the steps needed to create and install your very own disco podcast recommendation widget.
Note: Disco Free requires at that there are at least three episodes of your podcast in order to properly populate your widget.
Step 1: Register for a Free Headliner Dashboard Account here
Registration is simple and can be done at https://dashboard.headliner.app/register. Once you've registered, you'll be able to create a widget from the Disco Widget area on the left hand navigation bar.
Step 2: Select Your Widget style
Disco offers two different widget styles for your podcast. The first showcases your podcast art front and center and is perfect for shows that feature unique artwork for every episode. The second is designed to put your podcast episode title at the forefront and is optimized for shows that don't have original art for every episode.
Step 3: Create Your Widget
After you've picked a style for your widget, you'll need to input your RSS feed and Website URL onto the onscreen modal. Once those two fields have been filled, click create your widget.
Step 4: Wait For Your Widget To Be Created
It can take a couple hours for your widget code to get produced, so go outside, take a walk, or maybe check out these amazing photographs of snails, your widget will be ready in no time! NOTE: if for any reason there is a problem with your widget creation, you'll get an error message telling you contact support@headliner.app
Step 5: Review Your Widget
After the widget is created, the widget area will display your widget demo as well as your widget code, as below. Have a look, click around make sure you're happy with it before putting it on your site.
Step 6: Install the Widget Code On Your Site
This is a two-parter.
1. Copy the Script Tag and paste it into the Head section of your site's html.
2. Add the placeholder text script anywhere you want the widget to appear on your site. Keep in mind, the widget is responsive and will stretch to fill the container it is placed in, so if it is enormous and taking up the fill width of your site, you probably need to move it's location somewhere else. Many people put the widget directly under the post/article pages.
Step 6: Start Turning Readers Into Listeners
Disco takes your last 5 episodes and puts them into the widget content pool. Every time you publish a new episode, it will be added as well, making sure your freshest podcast content is automatically in front of your site visitors.
