Podcast Promo’s widget helps get previews of your podcast in front of your target audience across the Headliner Publisher Network. It is a tool for growth that creates additional avenues for exposure via widget placement. There are not a lot of great ways to pay for new audiences to sample your podcast clips, and we are working to create a better future of podcast growth.
Podcast Promo is constructed to function so that you can see real results and increase traffic. However, the downloads received through our Publisher Network are only partial plays. Partial plays should not represent full-length downloads or be used to solicit external sponsorships.
In fact, as the advertiser, you can choose whether or not your preview plays are played via your RSS Feed or not. We want you to have control.
How to count listens for sponsorship opportunities
When tracking your campaign on the Headliner Dashboard, partial plays are represented as “Promo Plays.” Promo Plays are the number of times someone clicked or hovered over your widget to listen to a clip, normally 60 seconds, of your podcast. While 60 seconds is considered a listen and pulled from the RSS feed, this should not be used to represent your actual listenership.
Example
Here’s an example of how Podcast Promo listens will appear in external dashboards.
Note: Headliner uses Libsyn as our hosting platform. The “Total Daily Downloads” graph represents a 1-week time span, whereas the “Downloads per User Agent” represents all-time downloads.
Now, here is the same time period shown in the Headliner Dashboard.
Since Headliner links directly to a podcast player, we can attribute 1,052, or 82%, of our weekly listens to Podcast Promo.
