In Headliner, there are several ways you can get transcripts of your audio (and video) projects. This article will serve as a complete 'how-to' guide for transcription with Headliner.
Transcribing Audiograms
If you’re creating a clip or full-length audiogram from your podcast, Headliner makes it easy to generate a transcript and add captions to your video in the process.
Automations
Headliner makes it easy to automatically receive transcripts from full-length episodes of podcasts connected to your account. Podcasts are automatically connected to your account anytime you search for a show via Podcast Search.
Pro Tip: You will be able to tell if a podcast has been connected to your account in the Projects Tab. All connected podcasts' show art will appear on the left-hand side.
You may automatically generate transcripts from any episode. To do so, click the episode name and then click 'Transcribe' from the drop-down feature list.
Note: Automatic transcription is a Pro feature. To unlock automatic transcription or to unlock additional transcription minuets, you will need to upgrade your account.
Manual Audiograms
Follow these steps to get transcripts from your manual audiogram projects.
Step 1: Create a 'Manual Audiogram' by clicking the blue 'Manual Audiograms' button in your Headliner account.
Step 2: To get transcripts from your audiogram, you'll first need to ensure captions are toggled on. When selecting your project length, click the blue toggle button in the lower left-hand corner.
Pro Tip: Pro accounts will be prompted to receive automated project transcripts via our transcript-based editor, Eddy. To opt-in and get project transcripts sent to your inbox, click 'Yes please' and continue. Due to account-based transcription limits, automated opt-in is only available to Pro account holders.
Step 3: Design and export your audiogram. Once you've landed on a design for your audiogram, click the export button found in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. From here, you will be presented with two different options for exporting your video. Your selection will affect how you access your transcript.
Step 4A: Export to the Advanced Editor. Exporting to the Advanced Editor is the most direct route to getting both your audiogram and transcript within the Manual Audiogram flow. After selecting that option, you will need to wait a few minutes before accessing your project.
Once everything is processed and ready for you, you will be directed to the Advanced Editor. Here you can easily download your transcript. To do so, click the 'Captions' tab and then select the three blue dots in the upper right-hand corner. Then, select 'Download captions.' Here, you will be prompted to select your transcript's format.
Step 4B: Export video now. Exporting your video immediately will allow you to get your audiogram quicker, however, it will add an extra step or two to getting your transcript.
Once your video is done processing, you will be directed to the project Share page. From here, you will need to navigate back to your dashboard home screen and select the 'Projects' tab. Next, select the project title, click 'Edit,' and then 'Open in Advanced Editor.'
Once in the Advanced Editor, refer to Step 4A for instructions on downloading your transcript.
