Captions/Transcription can be added to any project via our Audiogram or Video Captioning wizards. Additionally, captions can be added to any unique project made in the Advanced Editor or added to existing projects.
This article will walk you through all the ways you can add captions to projects in the Advanced Editor.
Option 1: Starting with Transcription
To add captions with the transcript, it is easiest to start with a blank project. Tab over to the 'Transcript' tab and upload either an audio or video file.
Once you've successfully uploaded your media file into Headliner, make sure the 'Captions' button is toggled on. This will make for the smoothest flow when adding captions. (Don't worry, we'll do this automatically for you!)
Headliner will automatically get to work processing your file while automatically transcribing and adding captions. This process is pretty quick, typically taking about 1/3 the time of the source file length.
Option 2: Starting in the track editor
The second way to add captions to your project is to enable captions directly on the track editor. The track editor allows you to add audio and media (audio OR video) to the project timeline.
Once you've added your file, a popper like the one shown below should appear. Ensure 'Captions' are toggled on.
Viola! Headliner is getting to work transcribing your file and adding captions in the background. You should see your captions appear shortly in the 'Transcript' tab.
Option 3: Starting in 'Media'
Another way you can add captions is to start in the 'Media' tab. Here, you can load audio or video files into your project. To do so, click on the 'Media' tab and click '+Add Media.'
Again, you should see a popper like the one below. Leave 'Captions' toggled on.
Option 4: Starting with existing projects
Headliner lets you add captions to existing projects too using the Advanced Editor! To get started, navigate to the 'Projects' tab and click on the file name of the project you'd like to edit.
Next, click 'Open in Advanced Editor.'
Next navigate to the source file ('Audio' or 'Media' layer on the track editor). Click on the asset in the track editor and toggle 'Captions' on in the pop-up.
Headliner will hop to it and start processing those captions!
Good to knows!
Note: Captions can only be added to one piece of media per project at this time. Additionally, Background Audio cannot be transcribed.
Note: Selecting a different language from what is spoken in your audio/video will not result in that file being translated. Headliner cannot translate content, only transcribe.
